override election information

Dear Saddle Mountain USD Parents and Community,

Thank you for your past support of SMUSD’s Maintenance and Operations elections. We are grateful for our community’s support for our students and our schools. SMUSD has had a maintenance and operations override in place since 1985, but we must renew every five years to maintain that funding.

Continuation of the M&O Override would:

  • Provide for staff to maintain smaller class sizes in all grade levels
  • Maintain the improvement of instructional programs, including full-day kindergarten
  • Attract and retain quality teachers and support staff
  • Continue fine arts, career, and technical education programs
  • Continue athletics and other extra-curricular activities
  • Provide staff development to improve student achievement
  • Maintain existing schools

For each $100,000 residential home value (determined by the assessor’s office, not market value), the tax continuation is an estimated $16 per year. If the vote is to renew the override, the tax rate will not increase.

Please review the override election fact sheets for more details. Please make certain you register to vote before October 5, 2020, in order to vote in the November 3, 2020, election. You can register to vote at the Maricopa County Elections site.

Make sure you vote! Please feel free to contact the superintendent for further information about the override.
